Basil - Lime

The Basil Lime, 'Ocimum basilicum americanum', combines the flavor of basil and lime that gives you and unusual, dramatic, tasty basil. For you basil lovers, do not pass this one up. This rare and tasty basil will work wonders in vinegar, with fish, salad dressings, sauces, and oils. Desserts are a perfect addition for Lime Basil. It can be grown inside in the winter and is a good container plant. Basil is used in so many foods, it is hard to mention them all. It is used in Italian foods and pesto and pasta sauces. Oxypetalum - Heavenly Blue The Oxypetalu Southern Star Heavenly Blue,'Oxpetalum caeruleum', displays a color rarely seen in flowers. The intense glacier blue 1 inch flowers are unlike anything you've ever seen. Even the buds are unique with their pale lavender color. Heavenly Blue produces very decorative seed pods and they can be overwintered as a houseplant. They bloom mid summer to early fall. The Heavenly Blue prefers full sun and fairly rich garden soil. Deadheading the spent flowers before fruit set will prolong the bloom time. Plant after all danger of frost has passed. The Southern Star provides a most unusual cut flower.
