When it comes time to replace your Naperville carpets, there are many things to think about before purchasing. There are three fiber types you need to know about. They are: nylon, polyester and olefin. They each have their ups and downs.

Whatever carpet you pick, the fiber type will determine the results of your cleaning. Nylon carpets are king for cleaning. Next come, olefin and polyester.

The hugest advantage of nylon is it’s resillience. It will maintain it’s appearance if properly maintained. Nylon carpet is typically the best carpet for the residential setting. Its only downfall is it can be stained by artificial dyes and pet urine.

One huge advantage polyester carpeting has over nylon is: it will not lose it’s color. Polyester carpeting is often made from recycled two litre bottles, you would be doing a good thing by purchasing them. The bad thing about polyester carpet, once it becomes matted down, it doesn’t have the ability to spring back to it’s original appearance.

One of the main reasons people buy olefin carpet is it’s ability to resist staining. Olefin isn’t affected by direct sunlight. Olefin will crush and never re-gain it’s original look, even after a professional cleaning you are more than likely to see areas that have a dull look to them.

Each type of carpet has it’s advantage’s and disadvantage’s. The biggest thing to consider is if the carpet is going to look good and perform well for years to come.

If you have kids or pets, the carpet type you select is very important. If you have a dog or cat that has accidents on the carpet, my recommendation would be a polyester carpet, as it will not be stained by the pet urine.

All carpets need to be maintained to perform at it’s best. It’s really important to vacuum several times a week because you will be removing the dry soils that cause the most damage to your carpets.
