Coleus - Rustic Orange
The Coleus Rustic Orange, 'Coleus hybrid', has dark orange foilage with yellow and green margins. These new, bigger, sun loving varieties have revolutionized container gardening. The brilliant colors explode in sunny locations. Coleus plants are durable and easy to grow however they are tender annuals. Frost will cause them to die immediately. Coleus plants are so colorful that many people keep them and use them as a house plant. These plants will do best in temperatures above 55 degrees. Flower buds should be pinched off as soon as they develop. If a coleus plant is allowed to seed, it has completed its life cycle and will die. Coleus must have good soil drainage. Licorice - Lemon The Licorice, Lemon Licorice, 'Helichrysum petiolare', is a pale lime plant that lets you do a little to get a lot. Licorice plants are exceptionally easy to grow, requiring little fertilizer. The Lemon Licorice is restrained grower with velvety soft foliage. This plant is an excellent choice for hanging baskets or mixed containers. It's especially useful in mixed containers as it tends to grow outward which makes a planter or basket look larger. Licorice do best in a well drained soil, either in beds or containers. Lemon Licorice produces small white flowers that are insignificant and can be removed. For zones 9-11, this plant can also be a perennial. |
