The Coleus The Flume, 'Coleus hybrid', has vividly marked saber-shaped foliage that is bright burgandy with a green border and a brilliant pink center. These new, bigger, sun loving varieties have revolutionized contanier gardening. The brilliant colors explode in sunny locations. Coleus plants are durable and easy to grow. The coleus plants are a tender perennials. Frost will cause them to die immediately. Coleus plants are so colorful that many people keep them and use them as a house plant. These plants will do best in temperatures above 55 degrees. Flower buds should be pinched off as soon as they develop. If a coleus plant is allowed to seed, it has completed its life cycle and will die. Coleus must have good soil drainage. Poorly drained soils and excessive watering will damage coleus. The medium-large, smooth 3 and 4 inch lobed fruits matures green to a chocolate color and they are tobacco mosaic resistant. Chocolate Beauty is an incredibly delicious sweet pepper, especially when they are mature and fully ripe. Transplant outside in the spring 3 to 4 weeks after last frost date. Note: To get a jump on the season transplant outside, use a walls-of-water or some black plastic to maintain and increase temperatures. Pinch off early flowers to encourage plant growth. Plant in average garden soil with sufficient organic matter. Peppers use quite a bit of water but prefer to be watered deeply and not too often. Blossom pruning will improve fruit size.
