Eastern Red Cedar

The Eastern Red Cedar, Juniperus Virginiana, is a small to medium-sized aromatic evergreen tree. Typically, the trunk is straight and the tree has a pointed, dense, conical crown that may be varied or irregular, depending on ecotype or competing vegetation. The fruit, or cone, is berrylike and dark blue. Birds devour the fruit. Eastern Red Cedar trees can grow on a variety of soils. Its deep roots and small leaf surface make it very drought resistant.
