Geranium - Charmant
The Geranium Charmant, 'Pelargonium x hortorum', was a Pennsylvania State 2003 Top Performer. The Charmant has very attractive large salmon flowers. Geraniums are a favorite bedding and container plant and are grown in almost every region of the country. These plants have succulent leaves and stems and they are commonly called garden geraniums or zonal geraniums. They are excellent in containers of all types from small pots to large tubs to window boxes and combine well with other plants such as petunias and ivies. Geraniums are one of your best choices for use in hanging baskets. Plant in ordinary well-drained soil. Over fertilization results in excessive foliage and few flowers. Begonia - Spectrum Christine The Begonia Spectrum Christine, 'Begonia x hybrida', are wonderfully floriferous plants that are at home in the garden, or in patio containers. This begonia is a cross between the winter flowering Begonia socotrana, and the summer flowering tuberous types of begonias. The Spectrum Christine begonias are distinguished by their large, double flowers that are pink in color. These very vigorous Spectrum Begonias are excellent in porch boxes and hanging baskets. In cool or wet climates, consider growing your Spectrum begonias on a patio or in porch boxes. These plants perform best when soil temperatures are above 60°F and when planted in flowerbeds. They should not be subjected to more than ˝ day of sun as they will not tolerate a full sun location. Too much shade however, may cause the plants to become soft and less prolific in bloom. |
