Grass - Feather Reed
The Grass 'Feather Reed Grass', Calamagrostis x acutiflora 'Karl Foerster', is a beautiful upright grass. 'Karl Forester' is a cool season grower with dark green, shiny foliage that appears in early spring and lasts until late fall. The flowers appear in June - earlier than many other ornamental grasses. At first they are loose, feathery and pinkish in color, then, through the summer, they become very narrow, gradually turning a wheaten color that lasts through the fall. The flower stems grow bolt upright and stand up beautifully through summer and winter. It grows best in moist, well-drained fertile soil, and does well in moist heavy clay soil. Fox Glove - Spanish Peaks The dense spikes produce large tubular flowers. The foliage has a velvet and fuzzy texture that contrast well with the flower colors. ‘Spanish Peaks’ has a plant height of 12” and a spread of 12”. It blooms early to mid summer, July to August. Try planting it in woodland gardens, as a border plant or cut-flowers. Remember to leave some dead flower stalks to self sow for future flowers.
