Grass - Pony Tails

The Grass Pony Tails, 'Stipa tenuissima', is very graceful with a soft fair-colored pony tail, This perennial will come back every year and bloom the first year. Plants do not get anymore graceful than Pony Tails. Pony Tails Grass has soft 8 inch plumes atop the plants. The flower heads appear in the summer. After sowing, flower heads will appear in 16 weeks. Pony Tails prefer full sun and well drained infertile soils. It is very drought tolerant, but even moisture produces the most flower heads. Plant in the spring, 3 weeks before the last average frost date. Spray the flowers with florist dye to create any color you want.
