The Purple Majesty Millet, 'Pennisetum glaucum', is a beautiful cornlike plant with deep purple foliage, stems and flower plumes. This plant grows 4 to 5 feet tall with cattail-like flower plumes that are 12-14 inchs in length. This is an outstanding ornamental well worth growing even if it is an annual. It will be the conversation piece of your late season garden. The Purple Majesty plant is very tolerant of heat and low moisture, but performs better with adequate moisture. Place in a well-drained, sunny site. Sunlight strengthens the purple color. Birds love the seed too!
