Hydrangea - Blue Wave Lacecap

Blue Wave Lacecap Hydrangea, Hydrangea macrophylla 'Blue Wave', exhibits beautiful disc-shaped flowers that are a rich blue color in acid soils or lilac-pink in neutral soils. Use aluminum sulfate to change alkaline soil to acid and make blooms bluer, or add lime to the soil to make the flowers pinker (begin soil treatments well in advance of flowering, as in late autumn or early spring). Large, dark green foliage adds to this showy summer bloomer and blooms in July for up to two months. Blue Wave tolerates full sun only if grown with consistently moist soils. It typically grows 3-6' tall and as wide unless damaged by harsh winters or pruned smaller. Group or mass in a sheltered location in the shrub border.
