Lungwort - High Contrast

The Lungwort High Contrast, 'Pulmonaria', also known as Bethlehem Sage, is a great ground cover for any shady area, helping to lighten up parts of the garden. The green foliage is wavy, spear-shaped and speckled with silver, not to mention mildew resistant. The large pink flowers fade to blue. ‘High Contrast’ has a plant height of 18” and a spread of 18-23”. ‘High Contrast’ needs to be planted in a fully shaded area with well-drained soil. It is a wonderful contrast with hostas, under shrubs and along paths. ‘High Contrast’ is a vigorous grower and is resistant to slugs. This plant is great for a first time gardener. Gaura - Crimson Butterflies The Gaura Crimson Butterflies, 'Gaura lindheimeri', has numerous butterfly-shaped hot pink flowers that bloom from late spring to early summer. The dark crimson foliage is also one not to be missed. With a plant height of 18” and a width of 24-36”, it is definite addition to any perennial garden. ‘Crimson Butterflies’ Gaura requires full sun in a well-drained area with average to rich soil and is very drought tolerant. A major attraction to butterflies, it continues to bloom through the first hard frosts of autumn into winter. ‘Crimson Butterflies’ looks great on a rocky ledge, near bricks and stones, near Sedum 'Autumn Joy' or small dahlias. It's also enchanting with pink bush roses and as a contrast to plants with big fleshy leaves.
