European Serviceberry, amelanchier lamarckii, is considered a large shrub, or small tree, with white flowers produced in loose clusters of 6-10 in early spring, and then followed by sweet, juicy purple-black fruit in summer. The fruit is good for jams and jellies. The round, dark green foliage has yellow to carmine-red fall color. European Serviceberry is a medium to fast growing shrub that grows 10-15 feet in height as well as width.
