Snowberry - White

White Snowberry, symphoricarpos albus, has dainty pink flowers that appear in July. It is accented with blue-green foliage, and then produces large white berries in autumn. Hummingbirds love the flowers, and in the fall the white berries are an excellent food for birds. It is good for holding soil on steep bank and prefers light sun and moist conditions. White Snowberry is a dense, twiggy shrub that grows 5-6 feet tall and 3-6 feet wide. It spreads by suckers underground. It prefers sun to medium shade, tolerates any soil, and is easy to transplant. Honeysuckle - Red Rum The Red Rum Honeysuckle, Lonicera maackii, is a deciduous shrub that grows to 8' to 12'. It produces masses of white flowers that mature to yellow followed by profusion of 1/4" bright red fruit persisting into winter. It has an upright vase shape. Leaves acquire a yellow fall color. Excellent as winter wildlife food source, windbreaks and landscaping. Adaptable to poor soils and is shade tolerant.
