Spiderwort - Concord Grape

The Spiderwort 'Concord Grape', Tradescantia ‘Concord Grape’, has dark bluish-green foliage with purple flowers. The flowers open for one day but new blooms appear from June to October. With a plant height of 18” and a spread of 18-24”, it is one that should not be missed. The contrast of the flower color and foliage make it a definite eye catcher. Deadhead after the first flowering to prolong its blooming time. Tradescantia ‘Concord Grape’ should be planted in a sunny area, tolerating some morning shade with well-drained soil. It will tolerate damp soil but should not be over watered. ‘Concord Grape’ mixes beautifully with wild and naturalistic woodlands, in any perennial bed or as a border plant and attracts butterflies. Geranium - Midnight Reiter The Geranium Midnight Reiter, 'Pelargonium', has rich, true blue flowers that bloom from June till August. With its beautiful dark purple foliage, it has a plant width of 12” and a height of 6”. (If grounded in shade, the foliage turns green with purple highlights. ‘Midnight Reiter’ Geranium, being drought tolerant, needs a full sun area with some shade in the afternoon. For best results, plant in a dry to moist area in a well-drained site. The Geranium family is well known for its stunning fall colors that include reds, oranges, and yellows. A great plant for a beginner gardener.
