The Veronica ‘Royal Candles’, Veronica spicata, also known as Speedwell, is an easy to grow perennial that adds beauty to any garden. This new Veronica is the most disease resistant perennial in its family. ‘Royal Candles’ produces wonderful dark blue, candle flowers from June till September. With its dark glossy green foliage, it has a plant height of 15” and a spread of 12-18”. ‘Royal Candles’ needs a full sun area with well-drained soil. Deadhead the flowers after the first bloom to prolong its bloom time. Veronica can be used as a ground cover, in mass plantings or along borders. Hollyhock - Chater's Red The Chater's Red Hollyhock, 'Alcea rosea', has a large ruffled ball-shaped red flower. The Hollyhock family is made up of a rather large group that exhibits tall stature (4-6') and is biennial in nature. Although they are short lived, they reseed themselves. The large blooms of 'Chater's Mix Hollyhock' flower in the summer months. Alcea is a wonderful plant near the back of the border, working great along walls or fences. They are best planted in full sun in a well-drained area.
