Viburnum - Winterthur Smooth Witherod

Winterthur Smooth Witherod, viburnum nudum 'Winterthur', has large, flat-topped clusters of aromatic, creamy white flowers in June, and then are followed by white berries that mature from pink to blue in color. The lustrous, deep green foliage turns red in fall. Winterthur Smooth Witherord forms a compact rounded shrub and grows 6 feet tall and 5 feet wide. It is easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. This viburnum prefers moist loams, but tolerates a wide range of soils. For best cross-pollination and subsequent fruit display, plant shrubs in groups rather than as single specimens. It is good for shrub borders, foundations, hedges or roadside plantings. This plant is often selected for planting in low spots or around streams or ponds. It has no serious insect or disease problems.
