Weigela - French Lace™
French Lace™ Weigela, weigela florida 'Brigela' (PP12,666), is a new weigela that has abundant amounts of ruby-red flowers blooming in summer amongst the variegated yellow and green foliage. This weigela is a real stand-out in the garden, and has an awesome effect when planted in mass. It forms a rounded shrub that grows 4-5 feet tall and as wide. This large upright form makes an ideal high profile accent plant. It is equally suited for the background of perennial beds or to cloak unattractive fence lines. French Lace Weigela is also good as a shrub border, foundation or specimen plant. A deciduous shrub, it requires full sun. One should follow a regular watering schedule during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system. For a formal appearance, shear annually after flowering. ... get more information
Mountain Laurel The Mountain Laurel, Kalmia latifolia, is a native American plant. Mountain Laurel is an evergreen flowering shrub. It grows upright and has beautiful tough glossy foliage. The plants will set buds as early as fall. The buds progress into dainty candy like flowers in the spring (May though July). The plants are striking in the contrast between the buds and flowers. However, the root systems are fine and shallow. Provide shade for the roots with companion plants or with mulch. Water often during growth periods, do not let the plant dry out. |
